The “Pearl of the Aegean,” Didim, is “opening up to the world!”

According to the press release issued by Didim Municipality after the World Travel Market (WTM) Tourism Fair in London,
Mayor Hatice Totik Gençay, with her “fluent English(!)”, has promoted the district’s tourism potential to the world, held meetings with important tourism professionals, and “brought Didim onto the international stage.”

However, the real picture is not as bright as the bulletin suggests.
In the past — including at the Istanbul EMITT Fair — Didim Tourism Association, the Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Tradesmen, hotel representatives, and all sector stakeholders always participated together.

Didim is no longer promoted together, but alone.
Until now, Didim had always been promoted as a unified whole.
But under Hatice Totik Gençay’s administration, this approach has changed.
Neither the Tourism Association, nor the Chamber of Commerce, nor the Chamber of Tradesmen, nor Didim’s tourism workers were present at the London fair — just as they weren’t at EMITT in Istanbul.

Today, we have a mayor who claims that Didim is “opening up to the world,” yet gives the impression of doing so alone.
But Didim’s strength has never been the showcase of a single person.
This town’s success in tourism is the result of those who have devoted themselves to it for years — those who work together, contribute collectively, and act with common sense.
